Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse – Mahina from Maui
On the early morning of November 8th, 2022 there was a total lunar eclipse of the full moon known as the “Blood Moon.” When the moon passes through Earth’s shadow it creates a warm color on the moon’s surface. The clouds were blowing through but the sky was clear just long enough for me to capture some total eclipse images. I went to 3 locations and in the end right outside my front door turned out to be the best. Mahina is the Hawaiian word for moon and it has exceptional purpose here. It is so important for fisherman, farmers and voyagers, as the seasons change in more northern parts, here the moon phases guide us. I hope you enjoy these images:
