On October 21st, 2026, I went out after work to photograph some fall colors. It had been raining all day and was still drizzling. I packed up headed back to my car which was parked at the pullout that has the best view of Horsetail Fall on the famous El Capitan. In an instant the clouds broke and low fog was dancing. As the sun set, it shined on an amazing cloud that replaced Horsetail Fall with the appearance of a fireball. The former spectacle known as Firefall was much different but this moment was a once in a lifetime opportunity and just as mesmerizing. It only happened for seconds and having my camera was stroke of good luck.
