Description

Hurricane Hilary brought some August rain to the Sierra Nevadas. Although the east side got the brunt of the flooding the western Sierras were blessed with lazy clouds. On this morning the clouds that you would normally see in the winter were pounding into the granite cliffs of El Capitan. Yosemite’s famous rock wall seemed to enjoy the cool rain clouds brushing against it’s stone face. Capturing this moment was a pleasure and it was so peaceful. Standing at tunnel view and watching the valley absorb the layers of shadows was surreal. Even though everything is in color in person it almost felt like the scene was black and white even before editing the piece.
